29/02/2016 Britannia Construction launches a charity partnership with Macmillan Cancer Support

Britannia Construction has raised £2,500 for Macmillan Cancer Support at a Charity Auction held at the end of last year and now their staff have voted in favour of continuing to support Macmillan in 2016.

Paul Halfpenny, Managing Director at Britannia Construction, said: “We are delighted to be supporting Macmillan Cancer Support this year and are considering extending our successful partnership with the charity even longer to deliver even greater impact.

“We took a staff vote on which charity we should support and the fact that we are choosing Macmillan Cancer Support shows it is obviously very close to the hearts of everyone who works at Britannia Construction.

“Our staff, customers and suppliers really threw their support behind our Charity Auction at the end of last year and to raise over £2,500 for Macmillan is a fantastic effort by all concerned.

“We decided to mark the Leap Year this year by launching the new partnership with Macmillan on 29 February, taking advantage of the additional day for our fundraising activities – it really seemed the perfect opportunity…

“We can’t wait to get started on this year’s fundraising. Activities are already planned and we want to get to the £10,000 mark by the end of the year.”

In addition to the 2015 Charity Auction which staff, customers and suppliers have already taken part in to raise money are golf days, cycle rides, charity runs and a planned Britannia Marathon together with joining in the Macmillan Coffee Morning where baking skills are put to the test at the end of September.

Catherine North, Fundraising Manager for Macmillan Cancer Support in Gloucestershire, said: “We are thrilled that Britannia Construction has decided to continue its support by choosing Macmillan this year and we have an exciting range of fundraising activities already planned in.

“They have already raised a fantastic amount of money which will go a long way to ensuring we can provide support and information in the county for people affected by cancer and those closest to them. We really look forward to their hitting their target this year.”

Britannia Construction has 10 sites across the South West and South Wales and its Head Office is located in Cheltenham.
