Charity Giving

In November 2015, we asked all Britannia employees to vote for 2 charities that Britannia could adopt as the charities of the year for 2016. The selected charities were Macmillan Cancer Support and Action for ME.

We are delighted to be supporting Macmillan Cancer Support and Action for ME, both charities are very close to Britannia.

We have pledged to raise £10,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support in 2016 and to help raise awareness of the great work that Action for ME do.

We have lots of exciting activities planned and will be communicating them through this page.

Considerate Constructors Scheme

All of our sites are registered with Considerate Constructors Scheme, where we comply with the eight-point code of considerate practice:

  • Considerate
  • Environmentally aware
  • Clean
  • A Good Neighbour
  • Respectful
  • Safe
  • Responsible
  • Accountable

Through the adoption of the Considerate Constructors scheme, noise, vibration and dust are continuously monitored and kept to a minimum on all sites. Neighbours and adjoining owners will be informed when noisy activities are required to be carried out, these works will be undertaken at such a time as to minimise nuisance as far as is practicable possible, the same would apply to vibration. With regards to dust, activities would be carried out using water suppression wherever possible and all access routes, footpaths and parking areas would be kept clean and tidy. Our average CCS score for 2013 is 38, this is a year on year improvement.

We operate a Corporate Social Responsibility Policy considering not only the community where our sites are located, but the local communities to our Head Office in Cheltenham. We will work to:

  • Effectively communicate with the local community and stakeholders by providing newsletters, information boards and online information and feedback forums on our projects. Site staff will also work with local communities and local authorities providing project specific and construction information through talks and presentations.
  • Work with local skills and employment organisations to provide employment opportunities for local people.
  • Work with local schools and colleges through site visits as well as specific involvement such as support with relocation of plants and animals.
  • Supporting local groups through charitable donations either directly or through provision of services or materials.
